Can penicillin be used to kill a skin rash??

.......due to an allergy or something like that??|||Penicillin is an antibiotic and is therefore used to kill bacteria. Penicillin would only be helpful in getting rid of a rash that is caused by a bacterial infection. It will do nothing to get rid of a rash caused by allergies, sun exposure, irritation etc.|||penicillin sometimes CAUSES a rash. i wouldnt use it.|||Penicillin is an antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria, not allergic reactions. Go see your doctor.|||If you don't know what has caused your rash, you cannot know how to treat it. Penicillin kills bacteria. Your rash may be caused by poison ivy, detergents, an STD, carpet burn, insect bites...you get the idea. If you think the rash is due to an allergy and you're not having anaphylactic symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath, an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream or a diphenhydramine cream (Benadryl) may give you some relief.
