My dog has been seen by a vet - he didnt know what this rash was from ., gave him a shot, antibiotics and 4 days later he still just lays there - he is a 10 yr old boxer/pitbull. he has these itchy patches that he has licked raw and hes miserable . what could this be - on elbows , paws , back , everywhere . help me please|||Did you vet do a blood test? Have you checked back with your vet and told him the results and kept him informed? Don't just leave it at that. It's your responsibility to follow through. I found that while my vet was good, his office staff did not always follow through and it was up to me to track everything and initiate contact when needed. Your dog is miserable and is relying on you.
Did your vet recommend a vet that specializes in that sort of thing? Even though I took my cat to an emergency vet, when my cat became blind the emergency vet could find no cause and referred me to an opthalmic vet that specialized in eyes. We got the diagnosis we needed within minutes (he was fabulous and knew just what to look for). Look for a board-certified vet that specializes in allergies/skin diseases.
Has anything changed at your house? Remember, your dog is closer to ground-level than you. Get down on your hands and knees and look around. And sniff around! New carpeting? New paint? New furniture? Do you clean with a lot of chemicals? Do you have a lot of drycleaning done? Open the windows and let in fresh air!
Or if you dog is outside a lot, look around. Grease, oil, grass, or pollen can all affect him. Does he come in contact with other animals?
What about food allergies? Try taking your dog to a vet that is more specialized. As you already know, waiting is not working.

Your dog gets the care he needs, the vet gets paid, and you can make monthly payments.|||Bring him back to the vet and if that vet can't help, go to another one.
